SUMMER SCHOOL

Among its main goals, Ravenna Nightmare Film Fest reserves a special place to audio-visual education with an increasing number of training activities addressed to different targets of the cinema industry.
Docufilm, docudrama, serial, web contents: the study of these dramaturgies, from their historical structures to the evolution offered by new media, is the key for a better comprehension of audio-visual communication and its constant changing. Conceived as an intensive workshop, Start Cinema Factory – Summer School offers an educational experience through lessons, viewings and encounters with professionals working in the cinema industry aiming to put the students at the centre of a learning process based on the exchange of knowledge and capabilities.

FRONTIERS OF CINEMA OF THE REAL
BETWEEN DOCUMENTARY SCREENWRITING AND FICTION CATEGORIES

From 25 to 29 July 2018

Coordinator professor: Lorenzo Hendel

The first edition of Start Cinema Factory – Summer School is going to take place from 25 to 29 July 2018, making Ravenna a valuable reference point for filmmakers and authors determined to deepen techniques and styles of the cinematographic profession. The School’s focus will be on reporting on the real through documentary form and will be coordinated by professor and screenwriter Lorenzo Hendel.
Named Frontiers of cinema of the real between documentary screenwriting and fiction categories, the course focuses on the analysis of documentary screenwriting in order to identify documentary’s own structures highlighting points of contact and differences with genre fiction’s elements.

Lessons will be further enriched with the Master Class by British documentary maker Jerry Rothwell who will talk with the students about his work in documentary cinema.
During the course, participants will be able to present one personal idea-project, even if elaborated at an early stage, that is going to be analysed with the ultimate goal of providing them with all the necessary tools to its dramaturgic development.
