TALK _ MASTERCLASS Cinema and philosophy: AN EXPERIENCE IN HISTORY

With the masterclass "Cinema and Philosophy," Professors Emanuela Serri and Rossella Giovannini, lecturers at the Liceo Scientifico "Alfredo Oriani" in Ravenna, will start with the screening of a film and then delve into issues related to philosophy. Their valuable didactic insights will guide the dialogue with male and female students.
Through the viewing of the film Venuto al mondo by Sergio Castellitto, the theme of war will be addressed through the eyes of the most helpless victims: women, violated in the most sacred of female mysteries and transformed into weapons of war. As if on parallel tracks, the discussion will transit "from stories to History" with reflections in which, thanks to the contribution of philosophers such as Hannah Arendt, Simone Weil, Etty Hillesum and others, it will highlight how the concept of nation can be degraded and instrumentalized, resurrecting archaic and tribal founding myths that, together with religious fanaticism, can lead to the brutal expressions of violence still dramatically relevant today in contemporary wars.
