THE TITLES OF SHOWCASE EMILIA-ROMAGNA

This section has the goal to highlight the film creations made in Emilia-Romagna, ever since the Cinema law gave the impulse to loval filmography. With this purpose, Showcase Emilia-Romagna presents some of the best products of the Region with the support of Emilia-Romagna Film Commission or even simply made on our Region, which stood out for artistic quality. The Ravenna Nightmare prefigures to be more and more the epicenter of indipendent film realities. 

 

The section will have the honor to present The Sky Over Kibera, new cinematographic work of the theatre director Marco Martinelli, The Bitter Years, the intimate and powerful tribute to the founder and activist of the italian homosexual movement, Mario Mieli, directed by Andrea Adriatico and Ascoltati, the desperate and sci-fi family drama of Andrea who roams the streets of Bologna searchiing for the right frequency, directed by Andrea Recchia. So declares Davide Zanza, member of the Emilia-Romagna Film Commission: "The Emilia-Romagna Region in these years, through support calls to the cinematography production, was able to transform the regionale territory in a big set attracting new prpductions and consolidating the new professional excellence. In addition, it continues to support and grow the film festivals like Ravenna Nightmare Film Fest, which brings to the attention of the audience a rich and stimulating program that opens to the wolrd and receives from all over the world to our territory."




The Bitter Years

The movie goes through the stages of the private and public life of Mario Mieli, writer and activist, which, with his thought and his words provokes necessary clashes and confrontations decisive for italian history.


The Sky Over Kibera

Among the labitinthine streets of the slums of Nairobi, Marco Martinelli reinvents the Divina Commedia through a contemporaty eye, within a project shot in english and swahili that involved 150 children and teenagers.

A fourty year old man receives the tragic news that his mother has died. He cared so much for her but he didn't have the courage to tell her. On his childhood friend's advice, the man begins to listen to himself, but especially he begins to look for his mother into another sensorial dimension.
