OPENING _ Saturday 11 November _ The Opening evening, established in 2017 with the opening dedicated to the master David Lynch (who will also be discussed in the Contemporary section), has become an unmissable evening for us. This year we wanted to do even more.
Not only the evening, but the whole day of Saturday 11 November will experience something exceptional.
In addition to the evening program, whose guest will only be revealed during the press conference (get ready for big surprises), we wanted to dedicate a matinee to all the schools with a film from the Fantastic Visions section, MANODOPERA by Alain Ughetto; winner of the First Jury Prize at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in June 2022 and celebrated as an event in the rest of the world. MANODOPERA (whose original title in French would be “Forbidden to Dogs and Italians”) is a wonderful and moving animated film, funny and heartbreaking at the same time. The director traces his own family tree and, through meticulous work of historical reconstruction, traces the path of his grandparents from Italy to France. He makes us discover the "world of the vanquished", made up of exploited and poorly paid proletarians and sub-proletarians. He shows us the hands that cultivated the land, split stones, kneaded polenta, built houses, gently and without nostalgia reconstructing a world that has now disappeared and yet is still so full of truth and meaning. No other title could correspond so well to the mission of the Visioni Fantastiche section which, in addition to being the festival dedicated to local schools, which takes place in spring, continues its educational work with a section within the RNFF.
