HE WENT THAT WAY

Zachary Quinto and Jacob Elordi are the protagonists of this wicked retelling of the road trip between friends, presented at the RNFF in a national preview. In 1964, along Route 66, Bobby, a nineteen-year-old serial killer, desperately needs a ride. Jim, the famous animal trainer, is also traveling along the great American highway with a priceless passenger: his chimpanzee Spanky, a TV favorite. Bobby just wants to get to his destination, Jim and Spanky have other goals. As the tension between the two men increases, the road becomes increasingly treacherous.

Jeffrey Darling, the acclaimed Australian advertising director, has created intimate and poetic visual stories. Self-taught, he first established himself as a director of photography for films, commercials and music videos. In 1990 he was the youngest director of photography awarded by the Australian Film Institute for the feature film The Crossing, starring Russell Crowe. Kodak has recognized the excellence of his work with three honorary awards. His works for Jaguar and Boeing are part of the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Jeffrey passed away suddenly in the spring of 2022.
