UN PASSATORE  - UN PASSATORE

"A FERRYMAN" tells the story of the small and semi-unknown Sant'Alberto ferry in the province of Ravenna. The boat takes people from one side of the Reno River to the other in a matter of seconds. A few quick daily trips. In fact, quoting ferryman Flo, "Isn't it strange to see someone a little bewildered asking where I am, what am I doing here?".

"Over the course of a year, I spent many days and nights in the company of Flo and his ferry. I wanted to enter into his slow and ancient rhythm, in which the passage of time is marked by the rising and setting of the sun. Flo, ‘young’ in clothes, in the way he expresses himself, in the genre of music he pursues in his nocturnal experiments, introduces a contrast that accentuates even more the sense of a tradition handed down from father to son, of a time suspended between modernity and the past. After shooting many observation planes, I broke down the various moments of Flo's day into long shots, using editing above all to signal the passage of time. Only a drone to give the idea of isolation: for the rest I wanted each scene to be enclosed in that small non-place, without ever showing what is hidden outside the confines of the ferry as if it were the secret and intimate world of its keeper".

Born on 10/03/1990 in Bagno a Ripoli (FI), but raised in Ravenna, Pablo Poletti worked for three years as a TV cameraman for SkyTg24. He then graduated from the Experimental Centre of Cinematography in Milan in the course of Direction and Advertising Production.

After his studies, he made the short film "Panascè", winner of the Jury and Audience Award at the "Lake Como Film Festival", and the documentary "La Botte", selected at the "Lago Film Fest" and at the international festivals "Big Sky Documentary Film Festival" and "Toronto Beach Film Festival", currently visible on the streaming platform "WeShort". In the following years, he worked as a freelance director/film-maker, making several commercials and fashion movies.
