Synopsis

Private detective Philip Marlowe accompanies his friend Terry Lennox, accused of murdering his wife, to Mexico.

Arrested for aiding and abetting by local police, Marlowe is later released because his friend Lennox killed himself.

Back home Marlowe accepts an assignment from the wife of alcoholic writer Roger Wade, and is threatened with death by gangster Augustine, who accuses the late Lennox of stealing a large sum of money from him and believes Marlowe to be his accomplice.



Director biography

Robert Altman, born in Kansas City on February 20, 1925,was an American film director and producer.

An experimenter in original narrative and technical solutions, from the 1970s he became a key figure in cinema, elaborating a personal fragmentation of "classic" film genres.
