Synopsis

In the San Francisco of 1919, a man is standing on the ledge of a building ready to jump. Desperate, he relives in his memories the absurd and shocking episode that brought him to the brink of suicide: his encounter with the monstrous and mythological Great Ancient One, DAGON.

 

Loosely based on the short story of the same name by cult author H.P. Lovecraft, DAGON is a short film in stop motion animation.



Director biography

Paolo Gaudio is a director, screenwriter and animator specialised in experimenting with animation techniques such as stop motion, cut out animation and computer graphics. His feature film debut came with "Fantasticherie di un Passeggiatore Solitario", with which he won 14 international awards. In 2018, he received the prestigious Nastro d'Argento for best animated short film with "LOONEY FOODZ!". In 2022, the short film "THE BLACK reCAT", which he produced and distributed, is selected at major fantasy film festivals worldwide, winning 12 international awards and being nominated for the Méliès d'Argento for best European fantasy short.

 

Gaudio actively collaborates with the Rainbow Academy to train new animation professionals. Since 2014 he is part of the editorial staff of InGenereCinema.com, where he is also director of the format "Il Giro dell'Horror", a docu-series on Italian horror, distributed on home video by Weird Entertainment. In 2024, he wrote and directed "DAGON" a stop motion short film based on the short story by H.P. Lovecraft, produced by Emma Film.
