Synopsis A powerful animated short film. "Pikadon" by Renzo Kinoshita is a 1978 Japanese animated short that vividly portrays the horror of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Director biography Renzo Kinoshita (1936–1997) was a Japanese director and animator known for his social commitment and use of animation as a tool for protest. Together with his wife Sayoko, he founded Studio Lotus and became a pioneer of independent animation in Japan. "Pikadon" remains his most acclaimed work, still shown in Japanese schools to educate younger generations about the horrors of war. Kinoshita also helped establish the Hiroshima International Animation Festival in 1984 ![]()
