The son of the grandmaster collects audio files, video interviews, directing lessons from the Tarkovskij Archive of Florence and offers a journey into his father’s cinema using chronological order but choosing not to use other voices than the paternal one.
Andrej A. Tarkovskij (1970) was born in Moscow. He is the son of Andrej Tarkovskij, he dedicates his life and his professional activity to conserving and promoting his father’s work. He lives between Florence, Paris and Moscow. He is the president of the Andrej Tarkovskij International Institute where he works as documentary director. He made his debut in 1996 with the TV documentary “Andrej Tarkovskij. The memory”, on his father’s work; he realizes docu-portraits on artists and takes care of the directing of musical shows. He collaborates with the russian and italian TV and with the german label ECM. In 2006 he won the first prize at the Short Film Festival of Sabaudia, together with Bastignano.
