Born from the close collaboration of the main international distributors and attentivel to the news presented at the major contemporary movie markets, this year the section redefines its nature. Its includes not only movies that represent the most interesting and innovative works of the contemporary production, but also works where even the author, introduced by the critic and essayist Mariangela Sansone, talks about his project to the Ravenna Nightmare Film Fest's public. The section unveils and enhances the dark side of modern cinema.
Among the new faces we have Andrej A. Tarkovskij, the son of the well known director, will present his intimate tribute to his father: Andrei Tarkovskij-The cinema as a prayer. A biographic documentary that explains the poetry of the great filmmaker. Long-awaited also Donato Sansone, pulp director who will present his greatest short movies at the festival. Bertrand Mandico returns among the already known faces after wining the critic prize of the last edition, and offers a new and charming project: The Return of Tragedy, renewing his creepy and gender fluid aesthetic. Lastly, among the most interesting pearls of this edition, we have two must-see short films: Nimic, the new short film of the Oscar nominated director, Yorgos Lanthimos, author of masterpieces sush as The Lobster, The Favourite and Dogtooth, and The Fall, last work of Jonathan Glazer, highly appreciated for his revelation film Under the Skin.
