Pedro Armocida was born in Madrid. He graduated from the "La Sapienza" University of Rome in the Literature course, with a thesis on cinema, a cardinal theme of his entire career. He is a professor of film criticism at "La Sapienza" in Rome, author of various cinema essays and has written some entries for the Treccani's encyclopedia of cinema. Artistic director of the Pesaro Film Festival since 2015, he holds some equally important positions: he is a member of the steering committee of the "Festival Italiani di Cinema" (AFIC) association and general secretary of the same since 2005; since 2018 he has held the same position at the Italian Film Critics Union (SNCCI). He has carried on several collaborations with newspapers such as "L'Informazione" and "L'Opinione", becoming a freelance journalist in 1996. He currently collaborates with "Il Giornale" and "8 e ½" and has been editor-in-chief of the magazine "Close- up ". Since 2000 he has been a recurring member of juries of national and international film festivals.
