The XVII edition of Ravenna Nightmare Film Fest will officially begin on Wednesday 30 October 2019 at Palazzo dei Congressi at 9.00 pm. For the occasion, will be present with us the Oscar-winning director Jean Jacques Annaud, author of films and TV series such as The Name of the Rose, Enemy at the Gates, Wolf Totem and The Truth about the Harry Quebert Affair, with which he approaches that dark side of cinema of which Ravenna Nightmare is the icon. His cinema, in open dialogue with literature, manages to reconcile Hollywood spectacularity with European taste, achieving a perfect synthesis between action and reflection. The director will dialogue with film critic Alessandro De Simone including l'Espresso, Elle and MyMovies, on the dark side of his cinema, before presenting his film, Enemy at the Gates, which will open the XVII edition of Ravenna Nightmare.
The director will be the Guest of Honor of Ravenna Nightmare, but also of the Lamezia International Film Fest, LameziaInternationalFilmFest (inside the Vacantiandu project, PAC funds 2017-2020), now in its sixth edition, which will be held from 12 to 16 November. The two festivals are pleased to start this collaboration together, born this year, which allows him to share one of the main guests of both events.
French director and screenwriter known throughout the world, Jean-Jacques Annaud is famous for having signed films of various genres, he is perhaps the only European director to have chosen several times to direct the animals, fighting with their nature that is clashed with the power of his camera. Academy Award winner with his first film Black and White in Color. Very often harshly criticized by the press for the dryness of his films, he is instead considered a perfectionist and an excellent cinema technician, eager to check every step of filmmaking, even when they are published as DVDs. A nature lover and a scholar of animist and pagan religions, he is a convinced anti-colonialist.
In its XVII edition, the Festival assigns to the Director Jean-Jacques Annaud Guest of Honor the "GOLDEN RING SPECIAL EDITION" Award from the Goldsmith Marco Gerbella.
