A mysterious phenomenon is changing humanity: some people are turning into animals. François and his 16-year-old son, Emile, are confronted with this new reality when Emile's mother undergoes the transformation. The two set out to find the woman in spite of warnings from state authorities about the danger of these mutant beings.

Thomas Cailley (Pau, 1980) is a French director and screenwriter. After making a name for himself with the film Les Combattants (2014), which won numerous awards, including three Césars, Cailley returned to directing with The Animal Kingdom, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023.
