He began his career at a very young age working in television directing and video editing on one of Palermo's first television stations. He became known for his collaboration with Franco Maresco. In 2002 he made his theater debut with Palermo può attendere. In 2005 he wrote and directed the play Viva Palermo Viva Santa Rosalia with Franco Scaldati and Mimmo Cuticchio. As director of photography he has worked alongside Marco Bellocchio and Roberta Torre. In 2009 he won the photography award at the Chicago International Film Festival for Vincere, for which he also won numerous awards in Italy. He teaches directing at the Griffith Academy of Film and Television in Rome. In 2016 he was the author of photography for the short film La Viaggiatrice by Davide Vigore presented at the 73rd Venice International Film Festival.
