During his career, he has been General Delegate of the International Film Critics' Week of the Venice International Film Festival, member of the artistic committee of IFFR - International Film Festival Rotterdam (2020) and programmer and curator of the selection committee of Visions du Réel in Nyon (2010-2020).
A former collaborator of Torino Cinema Giovani, Festival dei Popoli and Festival Internazionale del Film di Roma as selector and programmer, in 2015 he co-created and curated the exhibition Il di/segno del cinema at the Musei civici in Cagliari.
He is the author and curator of monographs dedicated to Gus Van Sant, Spike Lee and Abel Ferrara. A forerunner of the study of Hong Kong cinema in Italy, on this subject he published the volumes Il cinema di Hong Kong - Spade, kung fu, pistole, fantasmi (Le mani, 1997), John Woo - La nuova leggenda del cinema d'azione (Castelvecchi, 2000) and Il dizionario dei film di Hong Kong (Universitaria Editrice, 2005). With the book Action - Forme di un transgenere cinematografico (Le mani, 2000) he won the Barbaro / Filmcritica prize and ten years later made his fiction debut with A Mon Dragone c'è il Diavolo (Perdisa Pop, 2010).
A freelance journalist, he is a member of the SNCCI, writes regularly for, among others, Il Manifesto, Film Tv, Rumore and Micromega and helped found the monthly film magazine Sentieri selvaggi. He is a member of the Federal Film Commission CFC. A member of the Italian Film Critics Union (SNCCI), he collaborates with the daily newspaper Il manifesto and the magazines MicroMega, FilmTv, Rumore, Filmcritica Nocturno Rolling Stone Italia CineCriticaWeb.
