Introducing THE VISITOR by Bruce LaBruce (UK, 2024)
London, today. A refugee finds himself on the banks of the Thames. The enigmatic stranger introduces himself to an upper middle class family who invite him to stay in their employ.
The film, the first major title of Contemporanea, the festival's historic section dedicated to international cinema of the present, tells of an enigmatic refugee who introduces himself to an upper middle-class British family. He is invited to stay as a dependent but the young man soon seduces every member of the family with his "fluid" identity.
Presented at the Berlinale 2024, it is described by the director himself as a detournement that overturns conservative values through sexual radicalisation.
