"Private detective Philip Marlowe accompanies his friend Terry Lennox, accused of murdering his wife, to Mexico. Arrested for aiding and abetting, Marlowe is later released because his friend Lennox killed himself. Back home, Marlowe accepts an assignment from the wife of the alcoholic writer Roger Wade, and is threatened with death by the gangster Augustine, who accuses the late Lennox of stealing a large sum of money from him and considers Marlowe his accomplice".
Robert Altman is one of the most iconic and innovative directors in American cinema. Known for his choral approach, his social criticism and his distinctive visual style, Altman has made such memorable films as "M*A*S*H" (1970), "Nashville" (1975), and "The Leaders" (1992). "THE LONG GOODBYE" is an example of his subversive approach to the noir genre, turning Raymond Chandler's novel of the same name into a reflection on the disillusionment of 1970s America.
