To celebrate its fortieth anniversary, Start Cinema is pleased to announce the birth of the Cineclub “Deserto Rosso”, a name chosen to continue the work of valorizing the Masters and in homage to one of the world masterpieces in the history of cinema.
Il deserto rosso, by Michelangelo Antonioni, was filmed in Ravenna in 1964. The digital restoration of the film, by the Cineteca Nazionale – Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, was carried out in 2017 in 4K starting from the scene negatives and the soundtrack made available by RTI - MEDIASET. The color correction was supervised by the director of photography Luciano Tovoli, in order to restore the correct colorimetry and photographic tone desired at the time by Michelangelo Antonioni and Carlo Di Palma. It is with great pleasure that we announce the screening of the film within the film festival “Sguardi dal Futuro - Cineforum DBC sul patrimonio culturale” in collaboration with the Department of Cultural Heritage, Ravenna branch of the University of Bologna.
For this occasion, Start Cinema calls upon all regular spectators, university students, cinephiles and enthusiasts, frequenters of artistic and cultural events or simple enthusiasts to take an active part in the Cineclub Deserto Rosso. The Cineclub is associated with the FIC - Federazione Italiana Cineforum, which has, among its activities of excellence, Bergamo Film Meeting and Lab 80.
