We have arrived at the last day of the festival, and we can only expect a programme full of exciting and stimulating events!
🎬 It all starts at 10 a.m. with the screening of Roman Polanski's classic Chinatown (USA, 1974, 131'), an opportunity to pay homage to the great masters of cinema who deserve to be rediscovered. We will follow the adventures of private investigator Jake Gittes, hired by the beautiful Evelyn Mulwray to investigate her husband's alleged adultery.
🎤 At 11 a.m. we will have the honour of hosting a Masterclass by renowned Japanese documentary filmmaker Hara Kazuo. With over fifty years of experience, Hara has challenged society with his work, and will talk about the challenges of the artistic process and his documentary philosophy.
🎬 In the afternoon, at 3:30 p.m. the last feature film in competition will be shown: Vampire Zombies... from Space! by Michael Stasko (Canada, 2024, 95'). This film will take us on a journey where we will discover that zombies are not only walking dead, but also vampires... from space!
🎬 Starting at 6 p.m. it will be time for the European Short Film Competition, with 10 works, six of them Italian premieres, ready to compete for the prestigious Silver Méliès. We will discover stories ranging from teenage parties to surreal worlds, Dantean deserts, haunted houses and gentrified cities, with a mix of animation, often made in Italy.
📚 At the same time, in the Mandiaye N'Diaye Room of the Rasi Theatre, the last literary meeting Declinazioni del dolore will be held, with authors Stefano Mazzesi and Giuliano Pasini.
🏆 At 8 p.m. don't miss the award ceremony for the festival's prizes: Golden Ring to the best Feature Film, Silver Ring to the best International Short Film, Méliès D'Argent to the best European Short Film, Critics‘ Award to the best Feature Film director Deserto Rosso Award to the best Short Film chosen by the Deserto Rosso Cineclub, Students’ Jury Award to the best Feature Film chosen by the students.
🎬 We will end the day at 9:30 p.m. with the screening of The Animal Kingdom by Thomas Cailley (France, 2023, 130'). In an uncertain future, a gene causes surprising transformations in human beings. François and his son Émile embark on a journey in search of François' wife, facing the dangers of these mutations. A fascinating film that explores themes of identity, acceptance and the subtle link between man and nature, mixing drama and science fiction in a unique story.
