The MÉLIÈS D'ARGENT PRIZE for the best European short film goes to Playing God! 🎉
Playing God by Matteo Burani
Using the stop-motion technique in a sublime manner, the film narrates with ingenious inventiveness the act of man's creation, visually managing to make us feel like that puppet coming to life: abandoned to our fate. Thanks to a perfectly orchestrated and distressing sound design, the few minutes of the short film flow with increasing tension. Also noteworthy is the narrative and writing skill that perfectly matches the photographic beauty of the image created.
Special Mention ✨
The cost of flesh by Tomas Palombi
With a courageous and original choice, the film keeps the spectator ‘paralysed’ while observing an extreme method of healing. The spectator's identification with the situation narrated is total, in a symbiotic exchange rarely seen in cinema.
