In Ravenna, in collaboration with the Ravenna Nightmare Film Fest, three special events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Hiroshima and Nagasaki:
🎥 Wednesday, October 22 – 9:00 PM
Animated short film Pikadon (1978) by Renzo Kinoshita, with opening remarks and a message from Sayoko Kinoshita.
Followed by Rhapsody in August (1991) by Akira Kurosawa: the meeting of distant generations, in which the memory of the atomic bomb resonates in the peaceful Nagasaki of the 1990s.
🎥 Thursday, October 23 – 6:30 PM
The Burmese Harp (1956) by Ichikawa Kon.
A poignant masterpiece, a hymn to peace and reconciliation, presented at the Venice Film Festival and nominated for an Oscar.
🎥 Sunday, October 26 – 2:30 PM
Akira (1988) by Otomo Katsuhiro.
An absolute cult of Japanese animation: in post-atomic neo-Tokyo, humanity faces a decisive challenge.
