Jeong-mi visits the Gusi Mansion apartment complex to conduct a survey on child welfare, where she meets siblings Jun-hui and Jun-seo. The young brother and sister claim that their parents will be back soon, but they sound like they are reciting lines they were made to memorize. The two then lead Jeong-mi to a bedroom and point at the floor where a manhole cover is embedded in the floor underneath the yellow linoleum flooring. The children ask Jeong-mi to go down the manhole.

Hyein Hwang is a young Korean director who has just graduated from the Korean Academy of Visual Arts. Hole is her second short film and graduation film.
